Alert Now
The Alert Now/Saf-T-Net rapid notification system provides the Harford County Public
School System and individual schools the means to notify parents and employees of
emergency or other important information by way of mass telephone contact.
The school system uses the system to inform parents of school closings, key system
initiatives, and other critical information. Calls are made to parents of all secondary
students who were absent that day through the automated system. Schools use the
system to be in touch with all parents or groups of parents depending on the issue.
Schools have used the service to let parents know about back-to-school nights, picture
days, incidents which have occurred in the school and many other situations. The
system allows for calls to be made to all parent contact numbers (in case of emergencies)
or primary home numbers; and can be programmed for immediate delivery or for a future
date and time.
Alert Now has proven to be a major step in providing for positive contact between
schools and parents allowing the Superintendent, principals, or others with whom
parents are familiar to deliver a consistent and timely message.
