An Online Resource for Harford County Public School Employees

The Plan to Transition to Microsoft Office 2007:

·         Microsoft Office 2003 will be updated to Microsoft Office 2007 on all Harford County Public Schools’ school-based computers by

June 2, 2008.

·         To prepare instructional staff for this transition, professional development will be offered during the fourth quarter of 2007-2008.

·         The Technology Liaison will be the lead trainer in each school for the professional development.

·         Each school administrator will develop a schedule for the school-based training.

The Goal: At the end of the training, participants will be able to transition successfully from Office 2003 to Office 2007 through understanding and use of the new navigation features in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel 2007.  Note: the training does not allow time to develop additional skills.  Instructional staff interested in learning new skills should consider registering for a technology literacy course offered through Continuing Professional Development.

Training Modules: Each training module offers a similar structure:

·         An opportunity to connect to prior knowledge and build new knowledge

·         An opportunity to apply new knowledge

·         Additional links to resources and follow-up activities for extended support

Choose Your Training Module:  To meet the diverse needs of instructional staff, three training modules have been prepared.  Each participant should select the training model that most closely addresses their learning needs.  Click the links below to learn more about each training module:

v  Online Training Module – recommended for the experienced, self-motivated user who has access to the Internet, Office 2007 and Adobe Reader

v  1 Hour Training Module – recommended for the experienced user who needs little support

v  2 Hour Training Module - recommended for the less experienced user who prefers hands-on practice with support

NOTE: Participants who have prior knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007 and have successfully transitioned to the new environment should contact their administrator to provide instructional support during the trainings.
