Fallston High School Students Explore Careers in Real Estate Through Job Shadowing Experience

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, students from the Fallston High School Business Education Department engaged with industry professionals in a Real Estate Job Shadowing Day.

FHS junior Auggie M. said, “I had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of the real estate industry, from the technical side—marketing, sales, and building client relationships. I was able to observe a Zoom call with Zillow and learn how pricing and advertising are structured, as well as the importance of ‘comps’ and contracts in the home-buying and selling process.”

The Business Education Department at Fallston High School offers engaging and rigorous coursework, student organization conferences and competitions through Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and valuable community-based learning experiences with workforce partners.

In the 2025-26 school year, the department will transition to a national Academy of Finance program focused on insurance, real estate, finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. The program excels at preparing students for college and careers while also providing essential financial knowledge for independent living.

As the department transitions to the NAF Academy of Finance, opportunities will expand in job shadowing experiences, guest speaker events, project-based learning, forming an active business advisory board, and supporting work-based learning through growing internship and apprenticeship programs.

In October, students participated in an Insurance Industry Job Shadowing Day with workplace mentors.

The Academy of Finance will serve as a learning community within Fallston High School, helping students ignite their aspirations, develop professional and industry-specific skills, and connect with experts through career-focused curricula, project-based learning, and work-based learning opportunities.
