The Board Policy Manual for the Board of Education of Harford County sets forth the existing policies
for the school system.
In Spring 2002, the Board of Education established procedures for development and review of its
policies. Included in these
procedures was direction to the Superintendent to make the policies available to the public
in an electronic format. Accordingly, upon approval of the Board of Education, each policy
section was placed in this web site.
In 2006, the Board took action to reorganize the policies in a format that is more web friendly for
The Policies are now codified in these policy manual sections: Students, Instruction, School
Management, Safety and Security, Stakeholders, Ethics, Personnel, Fiscal, Contracting and
Procurement, District Management, School System Governance, and Equity and Non-Discrimination.
It is the Board of Education's intent to make its policies more accessible through these actions. Should
