Nine HCPS Students Receive Environmental Scholarships
Nine Harford County Public Schools seniors recently received $1,000 environmental scholarships through the generosity of local businesses and private donors. The well-deserving seniors visited Harford Glen to receive their scholarship packets. Each scholarship winner also received a yard sign, sponsored by the Harford Glen Foundation, to proudly display in their neighborhood.
This year’s winners and scholarship sponsors were:
  • Aberdeen High School Senior Marleigh Steel, sponsored by Constellation Energy
  • Bel Air High School Senior Eleanor Montague, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Murray
  • Joppatown High School Senior Nicole Suarez, sponsored by Mr. Wade Sewell
  • C. Milton Wright High School Senior Mackenzie Bunn, sponsored by Plaza Ford
  • North Harford High School Senior Jonathan VanBuskirk, sponsored by Clear Creeks Consulting and Foxborough Nursery
  • Edgewood High School Senior, Haley Guicheteau, Sponsored by PNC Bank
  • Havre de Grace High School Senior, Cameron Grant, Sponsored by Vulcan Materials
  • Patterson Mill High School Senior, Kane Evans, Sponsored by Harford Glen Foundation
  • Swan Creek School Senior, Anika Victorino ,Sponsored by Jones Toyota
This year’s countywide winner was North Harford High Senior Jonathan VanBuskirk. Jonathan received an additional $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Harford Land Trust.
Each of the scholarship winners plan to study environmentally focused degrees at the college or university level to further environmental stewardship and action in the community.
The Environmental Scholarship Program began at the Susquehannock Recycling Center in Bel Air in 1972 and has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships over the years. Harford Glen and the scholarship committee sincerely thank the local businesses, private donors, and Harford Glen Foundation for their continued support of this long-standing program.
