A Message from MSDE: Submit Your FAFSA by June 1, 2024!

The following message is being sent via email to all parents and guardians with a student in grade 12 at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024:

Dear Class of 2024 Families,

We are writing to you today with a sense of urgency regarding the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by Maryland students.

The FAFSA is an application that students and families need to complete to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. It gives students access to the largest source of financial aid to help pay for higher education. The deadline to submit the 2024-2025 FAFSA is Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Ensuring equitable opportunities for all students is a top priority, and completing the FAFSA is a critical step in making higher education accessible and affordable. The deadline is quickly approaching. Please support our students in this process to help them secure the financial aid they need to pursue their educational goals.
Students and families can follow the checklist below to begin the application process:
  1. Create a StudentAid.gov Account: To access and fill out the 2024-25 FAFSA, students and contributors will need to create an account at StudentAid.gov.
  1. Invite Contributors: Invite the necessary contributors (such as parents or guardians) to your FAFSA form.
  1. Gather Documents: Have all required documents ready and be prepared to complete the form in one session.
  1. Submit Your FAFSA: After submitting your FAFSA, you will receive financial aid offer letters from the colleges you selected later this spring.
Additional resources are listed below:  Thank you for your dedication to our students and your commitment to their success.

Sincerely,

Carey M. Wright, Ed.D.
